MISSION

The Delany Archive Trust, by its activities, provides for the education of current and future generations of people regarding the culture and heritage of the Roman Catholic religion in Ireland and elsewhere, particularly but not exclusively, as experienced by the members of the Diocese of Kildare and Leighlin, the Congregation of the Sisters of St Brigid (Brigidine Sisters), the Congregation of Patrician Brothers, St Patrick’s Missionary Society and Carlow College, St Patrick’s.

VISION

The Delany Archive Trust seeks to collect, preserve and make available the documentary heritage of its partners in order to support an understanding of the past, present and future.

We identify, collect and safely preserve the unique and irreplaceable documentary heritage of Delany Archive partners, contributing to their institutional memory, and that of current and future generations of public users.

We manage and preserve archives according to professional standards and best practice.

SHARE

We encourage the use, appreciation and enjoyment of archives through inclusive and welcoming public services.
We balance the public availability of archives with the rights and responsibilities of all those affected by the recorded information in our care
We engage with stakeholders to broaden understanding of our collections and services, and the mission of our Archive partners.

COLLABORATE

We create an open, inclusive work environment that is built on respect, communication, integrity and collaborative teamwork.
We work closely with Archive partners, their members, staff and representatives, which includes supporting their information needs by keeping archives accessible, authentic and reliable.
We engage with prospective donors of archives to acquire and make available new collections for public use.

INNOVATE

We embrace, support and pursue new ways of managing and making available the collections in our care, including innovations in digital preservation.
